Are You Into SLOMming?

My wife saw this ad on television today and fell for it, then she dragged me into it and I went to the above the influence website before actually seeing the ad to find that it was a spoof to grab our attention. I'm pretty sure I would have figured it out if I had seen the ad first, but I'll never know now. Anyway, it is pretty funny and I think it deserves a little more play so if you want to get SUCKED into the latest fad click here to view the video.

Okay, now that i know that "slomming" isn't real: i think that it is silly to use this whole leech thing as a method to try to reavh kids to teach them not to give into peer pressure. I mean come on... "you hear people talkng about slomming over the weekend" (this is the gayest commercial ever!!)

Thanks for visiting and for the compliment vikkijean. My picture taking has slowed down a lot with the coming of winter, which brings me fewer daylight hours but longer workdays. I'll be watching your blog for good new stuff too.

people just to let you know slomming is real. Nobody calls it slomming but people do stick leaches on themselves at certain high schools etc. My friend hangs out with a bunch of people who do that and yes I have personally seen them do it. And no i am not lying as a joke or wtf if you dont believe me that's to bad cause you've gotta learn to trust more people in life.

wtf like what the "h"? why are you gonna stick a leach on your self?, that is the gayest thing I have ever come across, and I don't even know what to think because some people are saying it is real and it isn't, like what is the purpose of letting a leech suck on you, was someone just bored or something decided to put a leech in thier mouth?

yeah,
the commercial is a horrible way to reach kids. People from my school thinking its real have tried it since the commercial has been aired. Yes, people are actually slomming at my school. this commercial is interesting nonetheless, obviously it was, (im blogging about it). But, still, cmon.

slomming doesnt actually do much, but it is used by some doctors as treatment.

but really, this commercial totally did the opposite of its intended purpose.

somewhat reminds me of that one south park commercial where a anti tobacco coalition comes to the elementary school and everyone views them as uncool, since they tried to act so cool, whcih made the kids WANT to smoke lol.

but really, this commercial was good, but...they should of made it clear that slomming is fake lol.

OK, so now i know that Slomming is real. But how does it make people feel high. I mean i know that in marijuana its THC...what is it in leeches? Its not like theyre taking enough blood to thin youre blood. I don't understand I would really appreciate it if someone answered me in an

e-mail... rissa-licious@hotmail.com

Thanks

I am almost 15 and have seen this so called "slomming" on the tv almost like 50 times. I dont really get what it is..whether it is really..or how it makes you feel..i have seen all the other blogs and some say it is real and some say it is not. Well WHICH ONE IS IT!!! I dont get how it makes you feel good and stuff. Someone needs to post something about whether its real or not????????

well, ive heard alot of this slomming stuff lately and seen the commercial like 50 times. If it is real whats the point of doing that to yourself? If its fake then i guess their trying to get people to live above the influence and not follow others....................

The commercial is saying that doing drugs in high school is just about as stupid as something ridiculous like sticking leeches on yourself, and it's shot to make it look as though it's real. Personally I think it's an incredibly clever commercial, but the facts that (A) apparently people don't get it's fake, and (B) some high school kids have undoubtedly tried it since seeing the commercial makes me incredibly depressed at the state of intelligence in our country. I mean, c'mon, people. It says "What could you be convinced to do?" at the end of the ad. That's a dead giveaway.

I'm 30 years old and went to high school in the early 1990s. Me and my friends (I'm a guy) would skip school and go to the river and do slomming, although we didn't cool it that. Sometimes we did it when we were smoking. It's altogether pretty cool and helps build self-confidence (although we didn't do it for that) it was just a cool thing to do, thatsall

Ok, well when I first saw the SLOMming thing I cound't decide whether it was real. Then I analysed the ad, and as was mentioned before, noticed the "What could you be convinced to do?" Then I realised it wasnt true...in the ad. Naturally, I had to Google it. Which is how I found this. And seriously, people stick leeches on themselves? And they say it makes them feel good? Get out more. Seriously. As in, seriously!!!
And the fact that people actually went and tried it after they saw the ad, well, I'm sure that speaks for itself. But really, I know some people claim they will try everything once, just to be able to say they've tried it, but this is taking it a bit far. Maybe they should follow the links to the website and take the quiz...maybe then they'll discover that they don't have a mind of their own. However, at school (I'm still at high school myself) it doesn't surpise me that people try ultra hard to fit in. But fitting in just doesn't cut it in 'the real world'. People mature and change and if you try to fit in, ie. submit to peer pressure, it will be completely obvious and will probably just lower people's opinions of you. That said, it may just be a school-age thing. Once they get old enough, they grow out of it...like bed-wetting.

well i dont know or care if this is true... but if it is then let kids do it... if they are dumb enough to intentionally have their blood sucked out then let them... its just natural selection getting rid of those who are too stupid or weak to survive

11:40 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

well the makers of the commercial arent trying to take a stand against Sloming... i mean theres a joint at the end of the commercial and they are trying to say that drug use is as stupid as wanting someting to suck your blood... so if kids are trying this then that just proves to me that the majority of the population really is lacking intelligence

"Slomming" is supposed to be used to relate to peer pressure, or smoking pot. But really, I think it has no good point. Kids are going to try things eventually, not because of everyone else, but out of their own curiosity. Drugs are everywhere these days, and you can't keep your kids away from them forever, at all times. So explain to them the bad things that can occur while taking them, or after affects, and maybe that will change their minds. But in the meanwhile, keep this commercial off the tv's. it's senseless and won't change anything for kids, if anything they will just change the channel.
