Name This Structure!

(01/10/07) Hint #1: This picture was taken on New Year's Eve 2006, in Chicago.

Update 01/11/07: Cindy got it. This is Cloud Gate, aka "the bean", in Millennium Park.

Happy New Year!
I looked at your photo, and the first thing I thought was that it looked like a huge, upturned bedpan! So that's what I put into Google: Chicago giant bedpan. I quickly learned that it is actually called Cloud Gate in Millenium Park. Very cool. I'd hate to be in charge of polishing it, though.

Way to go Cindy, thanks for playing. Its funny that you found it that way. It was actually nicknamed "the bean" because of its appearance before it was officially named Cloud Gate. It is very beautiful and quite an attraction. We stopped to take more pictures every time we passed by.

You know, it is not unlike the surface of my Trek bicycle helmet, probably now about 10 years old. The differences would be the size, it does not reflect light - my helmet is substantially styrofoam, and it has linear vents across the top. I cannot see in the picture what the other side looks like, so it might be just a stroke of luck you took the picture from this angle.
